What's the best metal for a hoop choker/necklace--real silver or silvertone metal? Is real silver too soft? I'm wanting to order a hoop choker/necklace - the kind that keeps its circular shape. I have ordered some pendants made of natural stones and they are a bit heavy. I'm not sure if real silver will lose its shape and/or be too heavy on its own to wear comfortably. I usually try to get the real thing whenever possible - but it just might not be the best in this case.

I have a memory of seeing a picture (photo?) of one of the queens of England (I assume it was a queen of England) that showed her wearing a multi-strand pearl necklace(s) that started as a choker and continued down to cover most of her chest.
